Development Projects:

Education: Assessed three schools assessed, led teacher development workshops for 38 teachers and school principals, gave specialized training to 13 school directors.

Health: Treated 400 patients concurrently training 20 rural health promoters, trained 13 midwives and two rural dentists, have health/sanitation/nutrition workshops to 250 villagers.

Economic Development: Trained 31 women in budgeting and business basics, conducted two 2-day workshops, consulted mandarin orange co-op members.

Infrastructure: Started to dig the foundation for the area’s first and only hospital (22 rooms).

Adventure/Cultural Experiences:

  • Worked side by side with local villagers every day.
  • Participated in arrival and farewell celebrations and dancing.
  • Enjoyed social and cultural events such as soccer games, ultimate Frisbee, a cross-cultural talent show, and a day-in-the-life afternoon experience.
  • Pre- and Post-Expedition travel options separate from the expedition: Mayan ruins at Tikal, Rio Dulce, colonial Antigua, volcano hiking and lake exploration, Honduras, Mexico, Belize.
