Development Projects:

Education: Observed multiple classrooms, helped with PE classes, held an art festival, conducted a 2-day teacher development training with 30 local teachers which included English teaching, student engagement, cooperative learning, lesson planning and learning games. Conducted a “Dream Workshop” with over 200 children and parents from the community in attendance to discuss and motivate the children to achieve their dreams for professional and educational development.

Health: Treated 150 patients concurrently while training rural health promoters in the new hospital, trained 16 midwives and rural health promoters on neonatal care, women’s health, hygiene, vital signs and nutrition, conducted eye exams on 122 school children and adults.

Construction: Leveled, prepped, hand-carried 1,500 bricks and laid a herringbone designed pathway the new 2-story vocational training center, Sikaab’e, designed plans for phase two of the new vocational training center.

  • Worked side by side with local villagers every day.
  • Participated in arrival and farewell celebrations and dancing.
  • Enjoyed social and cultural events, soccer games, artisan market, and a day-in-the-life afternoon experience.
