Development Projects:

Education: With villages teachers on strike, we taught over 400 children math and grammar, communications, American pop culture, self esteem and study skills. Conducted a career fair where they discussed careers and schooling required for various professions.

Health: Recertified 30 village nursing staff in basic life support and the neonatal resuscitation. Our physical, occupational and speech therapists shadowed and provided training for villagers. Our optometrist saw 130 patients for eye exams and provided 250 eyeglasses. Shadowed labor and delivery nurses in local hospital. Gave health/sanitation/nutrition instruction to 400 villagers in?eight classes. Treated 62 patients for dental cleanings and/or extractions.

Economic Development: Consulted with 18 small businesses, provided basic business skills training to 45 villagers and taught how to explore new business ideas, held a market day with carnival activities and a goat raffle.

Infrastructure: Completed a facelift on the exterior of the school buildings and the interior walls of the classrooms.

  • Enjoyed social and cultural events such as a talent show, athletic games, soccer games, ultimate Frisbee, a cross-cultural talent show, and a day-in-the-life afternoon experience.
